Introduction
The bridle: much more than a tool
Guide created by Mélanie Pierret - bridle maker and Isabelle Forys - Bridle and bit ergonomist

Between ergonomics, perception and riding
The bridle is often perceived as a simple control accessory.
However, it is a key point of dialogue, a true sensory exchange point between the horse and the rider.
A poorly designed or poorly adjusted bridle not only causes physical discomfort, it alters the horse's proprioception, that is to say, its ability to feel the position and movement of its own limbs.
This alteration modifies its biomechanics, its balance, and therefore the quality of its locomotion.
A poorly fitted bridle can create physical tensions, but also a communication problem and the quality of the horse-rider connection.
At Bluemane Sellier, we consider the bridle as a harmony interface:
It must be designed according to the moving horse, its morphology, its asymmetries, and its sensitivity.
This guide offers you a comprehensive approach to the adjustment and adaptation of the bridle.
